David Murphy, OxfordBands.com:
“Believe us, we’ve listened to this single a lot, and we still find ourselves asking the same questions: What are these tracks about? Why are they shaped so unostentatiously strangely? Why are they so amazing? Why doesn’t Ally step up his release schedule, because he has it in him to make one of the great Oxford albums? Answers on a postcard.”
Full review.Tom Parnell, Heavy Soil:
“Pacey, motif-led Get What You Pays For [is] characterised not only by Ally’s usual tightly percussive guitar, but also (in revelatory fashion) inspired saxophone work from Pete Wareham: flights of exotic birds circling above and around a grim cityscape.”
Full review.Dale Kattack, Nightshift:
“Ally Craig is a singer-songwriter [...] but he has as much in common with the bleeding heart whinge’n'whine brigade who stifle open mic sessions as a B52 bomber has with a piece of stilton.”
