Bug Prentice

About

This blog is haphazardly updated by Ally Craig, singer and guitarist from Bug Prentice. In case you were wondering, Bug Prentice is a three-piece band with members scattered across Oxford and London. Our influences range from Cardiacs and Shellac to Thelonious Monk and Orson Welles.

From brutal guitar assault to sudden, precipitous silence; from all-out drum battery to bathetic handclaps. [They understand] contrast well enough to be witty with it.
~ Tom Parnell, Heavy Soil

Our first single was Angular Spirals / Get What You Pays For, released on 7″ vinyl and download. (It was released under Ally’s name, but since we’re all on it, we think it counts as our first release.) We also contributed a track to Leader of the Starry Skies – A Loyal Companion, a fundraising tribute album for Cardiacs leader Tim Smith.

Our debut album, The Way It Crumbles, is released digitally on 23 November 2015.

Bug Prentice is, am, are and be:
Ally Craig – guitar, voice
Ruth Goller – bass
Stephen Gilchrist – drums

Hello Bug Prentice.
I think your music’s brilliant-and I am looking forward to getting hold of an albums worth of material. I’ve been working on some CD cover designs recently which you might be interested in. If you’ve got a spare five minutes have a quick look at my work on Flickr. Type in John Lymer and have a look at my photo-stream and ‘sets’ where I’ve put up some ideas for you to look at. If you are interested in using any of my images for free get in touch and let me know.
Cheers
John Lymer

Hi John,

Thanks for the very kind comment, I’m glad you think so highly of our music. We’re mixing the album at the moment, hopefully it won’t be too long before it’s ready to share.

I had a look at your flickr page, how cool! I’m honoured you were inspired by our music. I see from your other work that you’re a fellow Cardiacs fan too. Keep up the good work and stay all spectacular.

Many thanks,
Ally
