We appeared on BBC Oxford in October 2012 to perform our version of “Only a Northern Song” for Beatles Day, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Beatles single. Now our song is available on iTunes as part of Cover Me Do, an EP featuring five Oxfordshire artists’ interpretations of Beatles songs. The full track list is:

  1. Bug Prentice – “Only a Northern Song” (Harrison)
  2. To Liesel – “Dear Prudence” (Lennon, McCartney)
  3. The Dreaming Spires – “It’s All Too Much” (Harrison)
  4. Greg Stuart – “Across the Universe” (Lennon, McCartney)
  5. Fixers – “Free as a Bird” (Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, Starkey)

Money can’t buy you love, but it can buy you some fine music. All proceeds go to Children In Need, so please please us and buy it.

Only A Northern Song

It’s Beatles Day on BBC Oxford, celebrating 50 years since the release of Love Me Do. We were one of five bands invited to record Beatles covers especially for the occasion. If you missed it live on air, here you can listen to Malcolm Boyden interviewing me about the Beatles, followed by our version of George Harrison’s “Only A Northern Song.”

Many thanks to Malcolm, Harry Beer and everyone at BBC Oxford for your warm, enthusiastic welcome.

Beatles Day

This Friday (October 5th) will be Beatles Day on local BBC radio stations across the UK. BBC Oxford have asked five local bands to record Beatles covers especially for the occasion – Fixers, The Dreaming Spires, Toliesel, We Aeronauts and our very own Bug Prentice.

The five songs will be aired on Malcolm Boyden’s show between 10am and 1pm, and the band members (including Ally) will be interviewed about the Beatles and their influence.

I’m So Tired

We recorded this Beatles cover as a birthday gift for Ally’s best friend Rachel, who has kindly consented to let the rest of you lot hear it too. It was recorded and mixed by Jon Clayton at One Cat Studio during our ongoing album sessions. (Did we mention we’re recording an album? We’re recording an album.)
